Mercier Floors Maintenance Guide

You have chosen the best prefinished floor available. To protect its beauty, please follow the instructions in this guide. Failure to follow the maintenance instructions may void your warranty.

Protecting your investment has never been easier! The use of safe, no-rinse Mercier maintenance products is recommended to clean and preserve your pre-finished wood floors.

The Mercier maintenance kit is composed of: 1 heavy-duty mop with a 3-section handle 1 reversible, washable and easy-to-use microfibre cover 1 bottle of cleaner with spray.

How to maintain a Mercier pre-varnished wood floor ? Normal maintenance of a pre-varnished floor is simple, quick and can be done in just three steps:

  1. The best tool for protecting wood floors and preventing premature wear of the finish is regular vacuuming as often as necessary as it removes dust and abrasives from the floor surface.

  2. To clean your wood floor, spray the cleaner onto the microfiber cover of the mop and scrub a section of the floor using a back-and-forth motion along the length of the blades. It is important to never spray the cleaner directly onto the floor, as this will cause excess build-up, making cleaning difficult.

  3. Rotate the cover to the dry side and dry the surface with the same motion. It is essential to dry the surface completely to avoid leaving marks on the floor. Repeat the operation on the other sections of the floor until you have cleaned the entire surface of your floor.

Important: Change and wash your mop cover approximately every 300-400 square feet. Multiple covers are required for a large cleaning area. Machine wash the cover the same way you would cotton towels. Never use fabric softener (sheets or liquid) when cleaning covers as these products leave an oily film on the surface of the floor.

Not recommended: Never use wax, water-vinegar mixtures, household detergents, concentrated wood cleaners other than Mercier cleaner or oil-based soaps on the floor*. These products can dull, damage the finish and leave a greasy film, making the floor slippery and difficult to maintain. Do not use any steam cleaner on your wood floors. Never wash a wood floor with a large quantity of liquid or with a mop saturated with water.

Happy cleaning! ☺
